Edu Vidal
About me
Eduardo Vidal Banzo was born in Tarragona, Spain on January 20, 1978. He completed his Bachelor’s at Institut Antoni de Martí i Franquès in Tarragona and later earned a qualification as a Technician in Image and Sound at ITES in Barcelona.
His first artistic ventures were through poetry, where several local awards led to the publication of his first book, “La vida y sus envoltorios” (“Life and Its Wrappings”) in 2002. After meeting and forming a friendship with the Tarragona painter Josep María Rosselló, Eduardo Vidal developed an interest in the visual arts and took part in several group exhibitions in Tarragona.
His passion for painting deepened when he left his hometown and moved to Aragón in 2013, where his nomadic lifestyle took him to numerous villages, enriching his creativity. This led him to hold various exhibitions throughout the province of Huesca, including the capital.
Little by little, Eduardo continued weaving “Atlantis” from his life experiences, his characters, and his imagination.
Eduardo Vidal Banzo is a remarkable identity-driven artist—one of those whose life journey and personal experiences emerge as an action–reaction dynamic, shaping a body of work that is both genuine and deeply personal. Over many years, and from a largely self-taught foundation, this painter—part magician, hermit, nomad, ascetic, and poet—has travelled through his inner world, creating within a prodigious imagination a gallery of characters that leaves no one unmoved.
Eduardo works from the smallest irreducible unit of the creative act: pure feeling, emotion, and inward sensitivity. Through a slow and deliberate catharsis, he fragments and deconstructs the surrounding universe, only to rebuild it—both as a therapeutic act for himself and generously for others—using exquisite craftsmanship and masterful artistic methods to shape his rich meta-narrative particularities.
These imaginary stories, infused with dreamlike and surreal touches, fill our dry marshlands with sweet nectars and enrich soils that once seemed barren, transforming them into extraordinarily fertile ground. Indeed, the work of this great painter does not go unnoticed per natura; it is a true ode to universal creativity.
